Mikael made his debut in Superettan with Assyriska FF 2010, 17 years old. End of januar 2017 Mikael signed a 3,5 year contract with German 2.Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg. Before that Mikael had a great time in the Danish top team Randers FC, where he was the top goalscorer. Before he came to Randers FC he also played in 1 FC Cologne, Germany, St Gallen Switzerland (loan) AC Parma, Italy and Crotone, Italy (Loan). He was also an important team member in the Swedish under 21 Euro Championship squad who became European champions 2015.
